The winner of the "Cover a Jazz Game Contest" for seventh- through 11th-grade students is Ben Olsen of Orem, a sophomore at Timpanogos High School.
Ben and two guests will meet Deseret Morning News Jazz beat writer Tim Buckley this Saturday night in the press room at the Delta Center for dinner prior to the game. He will be interviewed on Jazz Talk on KFNZ radio, 1320 AM, and have his picture taken with a Jazz player. Ben will sit on press row alongside other sports writers during the game and watch as the Jazz square off against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Immediately after the game, the hard part of the evening will begin as he conducts postgame interviews and writes his story on deadline. Ben's coverage will be published in the Sunday morning editions of the Deseret Morning News.
The second-place winner, Brendan Cannon, from Trenton, wins a Club Suite Night to a regular-season game for eight guests.
The third-place winners, who receive Utah Jazz baseball caps, are: Sarah Secrist, Eddie Broschinsky, Brianna Chamberlain, Jeremy Hatch, Melissa Child, Matthew Ricks, Kambri Jackman, Jonathan Turnbow, Kyle Ireland and Brooks Harrison. The special class prize goes to Torrey Longeteig's class from Oquirrh Hills Middle School in Riverton.
