Salt Lake Police are advising downtown travelers to be prepared for congestion and delays Sunday afternoon as thousands of people are expected to gather in competing political rallies over the issue of immigration.

Utah's Latino community leaders have planned a "Dignity March" while anti-illegal immigration activists, including the Minutemen, are planning their own rally, both at the Salt Lake City-County building between noon and 5 p.m.

Subsequent marches to the State Capitol are also expected to take place Sunday afternoon. Salt Lake City Police report they will be prepared to handle thousands of people and advise those planning to travel through downtown to avoid State Street.
