Salt Lake County prosecutors have charged a man accused of raping his wife and trying to shove her head into a scalding hot bath.
Criminal charges filed in 3rd District Court on Thursday said the 29-year-old man punched and kicked the woman, held a knife to her temple and raped her several times in front of her 2-year-old child. After the assault, a probable cause statement filed with the criminal charges said the man tried to shove his wife's head into a "scalding hot" bath while the child watched and screamed.
A 4-month-old child was asleep in a room down the hall, police said.
The woman was eventually able to escape the home and call for help.
