A man was arrested early Monday morning after leading police on a speed chase in a stolen car.
The pursuit began about 1 a.m. at 900 East and 2700 South when police spotted a car that had been stolen two hours earlier from a Spanish Fork car dealership, Taylorsville Police Sgt. Keith Stephens said.
The driver led police on a five-minute chase that went through several residential neighborhoods in South Salt Lake. At one point, the vehicle struck a parked car but continued on.
The pursuit ended on 2100 South under the I-15 overpass, where the stolen car spun out and caught on fire. The driver and one passenger were not injured.
The driver, a Salt Lake Valley man believed to be between 17 and 19 years old, was arrested at the scene.
