John Sybrowsky "Gramps" Beloved father, grandfather and friend died Friday, July 21, 2006 at home of natural causes surrounded by his family. Born August 8, 1910 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Wilhelm Christian and Johanna Alfreida Johansen Szybrowsky. He emigrated to America with his family in 1916. While recuperating from a mining accident, he met his wife, Clare Steuri, who was a student nurse. They were married April 17, 1933 in Salt Lake City and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January 4, 1954. She preceded him in death in 1973. John missed his wife everyday, and we are sure they are having a happy reunion. John and Clare had two daughters, Shauna and Beverlee. Gramps was instrumental in the lives of all his grandchildren. In 1983, he welcomed Shauna and the Mann children back into his home and lovingly raised her children as his own. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grandpa's priorities were family, hard work, and service. He spent many hours in his garden working on prized tomatoes. Grandpa was a true friend to all he met. He was filled with an optimism that was contagious and his mere proximity inspired people to be better. Everyone was welcome in his home and treated with love and respect. He is survived by his daughters Shauna Mann and Beverlee Brown, his grandchildren Kristin Mann Acree, John (Liz) Mann, Jared (Amber) Mann, Justin (Natalie) Brown, Michael (Sharon) Brown, Rebecca (Austin) Lawrence, Amanda (Robert) Nunley, and Matt Brown; his great grandchildren Taylor, Tyson, Jaxon, Savannah, Rylee, Andrew and Sophia; his brother Paul Sybrowsky and sister-in-law Virginia Packer, and many loved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Clare, his brothers and sisters, and his son-in-law Dwight Brown. Funeral services for John will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parley's 5th Ward, 2615 East Stringham Avenue (2287 South), Salt Lake City, UT.
