Alfred Niederhauser Jr. 1911 ~ 2006 "Together Again" Alfred Niederhauser Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather died peacefully on July 24, 2006 in San Diego, CA. Survived by his children: daughter, Edie Pike (Russ) of San Diego, CA; son, Orson (Martha) of Acton, MA; son Tom (Sue) of Price, UT; daughter Carol Haddock (John) of Henderson, NV. Also survived by12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Emily Chappuis and Ella Siegmann. Preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite, grandson Eric U. Niederhauser, one brother and three sisters. Born in Basel Switzerland, August 24, 1911, Alfred and his wife, Marguerite emigrated from Basel to Utah in 1948 because of their devotion to the LDS Church. He served in many church callings and with his wife served two missions to Switzerland. He worked as an architect for the LDS Church, and was commissioned by David O McKay to create architectural drawings of the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He loved gardening, drawing, and took great pleasure in singing and traveling with the Swiss Chorus Edelweiss. Alfred enjoyed swimming, and as a young man swam many times across the swift Rhine River. He had a great rapport with animals, and was a well-known beekeeper for many years. Funeral services will be held on Mon., July 31st at noon at the Holladay 24th Ward Chapel (4395 S. Albright Dr.) with interment at Mountain View Memorial Estates. A viewing will be held Sun., July 30th at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Dr., 6:30-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Mon.
