Ardis Harriet Webb Murray 1919 ~ 2006 Ardis Harriett Webb, daughter of Leslie Webb and Nellie Rachel Thacker, was born August 14, 1919 at home in Hinckley, Millard County, Utah. She departed this life at the age of 87 early Sunday morning, July 23, 2006. She grew up in and was educated in a one room school house in Hinckley, Utah, and furthered her education in office administration as a student at L.D.S. Business College and Utah State Agricultural College. On October 3, 1940, she and Boyd Ashby Murray of Altonah, Duchesne County, Utah, solemnized their marriage covenant in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their union bore eight children: four daughters and four sons. Throughout her life she was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the youth's and women's organizations and with her husband as a missionary in Merida Mexico. Her husband, Boyd Ashby Murray, preceded her in death; her parents; a beloved brother, Leslie Fay Webb, who died of polio in 1951 at the age of 19; a 35 year old son-in-law, Dr. Glen Craig Sanders on February 14, 1987; a cherished infant grandson, Stephen Robert Murray, who died on August 13, 1984, age three days; an infant brother, John Oren Webb, on December 22, 1920; and, another infant brother, Reed Webb, on October 3, 1921. She is survived by her eight children: Norman Murray (Barbara), Jane Jefferies (Bruce), Kathryn Lobo (Celso), Evan Murray (Jo Ellen), Margaret Ann Sharp (Jerry), Elaine Sanders Cochran (Kirby), Robert Murray (Angela), Golden Murray (Mary Ann); 42 grandchildren; 45 great-grand-children; and six brothers and sisters: Beulah Rowley Jensen (Homer), Calvin Webb (Carol), Delma Jean Galli, Elva Skeem (Fred), Gary Webb (Evelyn), and Herbert Webb (Wanda). She loved her family and she loved her friends. She loved to serve others. Her grandfather, Simon Webb, who lived with her as a child, taught her to read and love poetry. As the challenge of Alzheimer's appeared in later years, she drew strength and courage from her love of poetry, scriptures and prayer. In 2005, she answered the prophet's challenge to read the Book of Mormon with her courageous group of friends. She spent her last days reaching out to feed, comfort, and protect those around her. Edgar A. Guest frames her well in his poem "Success." I hold no dream of fortune vast, Nor seek undying fame; I do not ask when life is past That many know my name; I may not own the skill to rise To glory's topmost height, Nor win a place among the wise, But I can keep the right, And I can live my life on earth Contented to the end, If but a few shall know my worth And proudly call me friend. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. in the Heatheridge Stake Center, 450 East 2000 North, Orem. Family and friends may visit Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and from 8-8:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Stake Center.
