DESERT STAR DINNER THEATRE, 4861 S. State, Murray, on Tuesday, 4-8 p.m., for its upcoming production of "The Little Shop of Horrors," scheduled to play Sept. 22-Nov. 4.

These auditions are by appointment only (266-2600, between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily). All roles are open for males and females, 18 and older, who are strong singers. Some dance experience is also requested. Come prepared with a one-minute comic monologue and 16 bars of an upbeat Broadway-style song. Bring your own sheet music. An accompanist will be provided (no minus tracks or a cappella singing).

Come dressed for movement. There will also be cold readings from the script. All performers will be paid.

PLEASANT GROVE PLAYERS on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m., in the Keith Christeson Theater on the first floor of the Pleasant Grove Library, 30 E. Center, for a melodrama-comedy, "D.K. Molar — The Devious Dentist or There's Gold in Them Thar Teeth," directed and produced by Jeremy Young and Cheri Walker for the community's annual Heritage Festival in September.

All roles are open and no appointment is necessary. There will be cold readings from Billy St. John's script.

Needed are two men and four women to play patient Iva Paine, heroic dentist Phil de Tooth, patient Polly Dent, receptionist Flossy Dailey, villainous nurse Nova Caine and D.K. Molar, a down-in-the-mouth villain.

THE ACADEMY THEATRE COMPANY, 3188 S. 400 East, on Aug. 8 and 9, 6-8 p.m., for its Halloween production of an original adaptation of the horror classic, "Frankenstein," scheduled to play Oct. 6-30. CENTER STREET MUSICAL THEATRE, 177 W. Center St., Provo, on Aug. 16, 7-10 p.m., for "Guys and Dolls," directed by Joel Osborne. Play dates are Oct. 13-Nov. 18. All roles are open.
