The Vest Pocket Business Coalition on Friday said Richard Wirick has been designated "Mr. Downtown."
Wirick, owner of the Oxford Shop Shoes for Men, has devoted time the past 55 years toward the revitalization of downtown, the coalition said. Wirick, one of Vest Pocket's original members, has "established a close relationship with the city and county mayors as well as the City Council, the LDS Church officials, the news media and many others," it said. "He serves with three civic organization and is on the Business Advisory Board of Salt Lake City."
The organization will present Wirick with an award noting the designation at its breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. Aug. 16 at Lamb's Grill, 169 S. Main.
