Erin Thorn scored a career-high 24 points to lead the New York Liberty to an 85-80 victory over the Charlotte Sting on Saturday night in Charlotte, N.C.
Thorn, averaging 18.4 points the last five games, made two free throws with 10.9 seconds left to cap the scoring.
"I've been feeling good the last three or four games," said Thorn, who shot 8-for-13. "We took up half the season with a new group of people and are now getting used to playing with each other."
The former Brigham Young player, who entered the game averaging 6.2 points, has taken advantage of extended playing time as All-Star guard Becky Hammon has missed the last eight games with a sprained ankle.
MYSTICS 74, FEVER 67: At Indianapolis, Alana Beard scored 21 points and DeLisha Milton-Jones added 19 for Washington. Despite the loss, the Fever clinched a playoff berth with New York's 85-80 win over Charlotte.
