Calvin Gerald Nielson 1927 ~ 2006 RICHFIELD, UTAH - Calvin Gerald Nielson, 79, passed away on July 26, 2006 at his home in Richfield. He was born in Richfield on February 17, 1927 to Theodore J. and Anna Marie "Meda" Nielson and spent most of his life in Sevier County. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1945 and proudly served his country in the Army in World War II where he was stationed in Germany. He married LuAna Powell on September 6th, 1952 in Glenwood, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti temple. Calvin was a humble man and a hard worker. He spent most of his life as a route salesman servicing the rural areas of central Utah. He completed his career with Country Crisp Foods. He served faithfully in the LDS church in various callings, including High Priest Group Leader, Elder's Quorum Secretary, and Building Lockup Coordinator and he was a dedicated Home Teacher. He also served as a past president of the local Kiwanis Club. His life was filled with many acts of selfless service. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Glen W., Ross L., John W., and Max T. Nielson. He is survived by his wife, LuAna; his daughter, Catherine; sons, Gregory (Michelle); Michael C. (Pamela); and Bradley T (Kellie); 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Norma K. Reynolds and his sister-in-law, Lorna S. Nielson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Richfield 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 801 N 500 E. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Magleby Mortuary, 50 S. 100 W. in Richfield and on Monday at the ward chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Richfield cemetery with military rites by V.F.W.
