Utah's student enrollment is expected to grow by 28 percent in the next decade.

Due to growth and retirement, Utah schools will need more than 44,000 new teachers by 2014.

Large, growing school districts like Alpine and Jordan need between 400 and 600 new teachers just this year.

Jordan, which lost 260 teachers to retirement by July 3, is sending recruitment letters to 480 teachers who retired in the past few years.

Retired teachers who return can earn $20,000 to $30,000 more than they made before retirement.
