NASHVILLE — Kendry Morales belted two home runs and drove in five to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 7-2 win over the Nashville Sounds on Sunday night.
The Bees trailed 2-0 in the sixth inning when Erick Aybar reached on a two-out infield single. Morales followed with a shot to the opposite field in right to tie the game.
In the seventh, Salt Lake loaded the bases with one out when Casey Smith hit a slow bouncer to short. Chris Barnwell flipped to second for one out, but Zach Sorensen had the ball slip out of his hand on the relay to allow two runs to score. After Aybar singled, Morales greeted reliever Mike Meyers by lifting an 0-2 pitch over the right field wall to give the Bees a five-run lead.
Nathan Bland (4-3) went six innings for the win, as he allowed just two runs on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
Matt Hensley earned his second save by tossing three scoreless innings of relief. Hensley was aided by double plays in each of his three innings.
Tommy Murphy, Mike Eylward, Corey Myers and Aybar each added two hits for the Bees, who have now won the first two games of the series.
The Bees and Sounds play again tonight at 6 p.m. MDT.
BEES WAX: Right-handed reliever Greg Jones was called up by the Angels when Los Angeles placed Bartolo Colon on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right triceps. Jones was 4-5 with a 4.00 ERA with the Bees.
