A 21-year-old man was charged with a costly misdemeanor in 3rd District Court Thursday, after he admitted to starting a fire with fireworks.
On July 2, the man admitted to firefighters that he and some friends set off some fireworks, whose sparks got caught "in a gust of wind" and started a fire in Salt Lake City's foothills, court documents say.
The fire burned approximately an area the size of half a football field and cost more than $1,000 to extinguish.
