Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies were investigating Monday whether drugs or alcohol were involved in a fatal crash in Magna Sunday night.
Michelle Williams, 47, of Magna, was killed while driving near 3100 South and 8000 West when her car was struck by another vehicle that detectives said ran a red light at about 10:20 p.m.
The 31-year-old woman driving the car that ran the light was ejected from her vehicle, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputy Mike Schoenfeld. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with a pelvic injury, he said.
Williams was also taken to the hospital but died a couple of hours later.
Witnesses told police the driver that caused the accident was speeding prior to the crash.
