Norma Pearl Brewer Bloomquist 5/20/1925 ~ 7/30/2006 Norma Pearl Brewer Bloomquist passed away quietly in her sleep on July 30, 2006 of natural causes at the age of 81. She was born and raised in Salt Lake City, graduated from high school, and married her high school sweetheart LaMar Axel Bloomquist. Their 63-year marriage began at the young age of 17 in the Salt Lake City and County Building on November 7, 1942. Norma was the 10th and youngest child of Silas Myron Brewer and Sophia Stevens Brewer. Her family moved from Roberta St. to 1612 South State at the age of two. Raised there, she attended church, McKinley Grade School, Lincoln Jr. High, and South High School. She met LaMar at age 10 when his family relocated to 17th South from American Fork. After marrying LaMar, she lived at home with her parents while he served in the Pacific during World War II, leaving Salt Lake for a year to be with him in California while he recovered from his wounds. In 1952 they moved from their small second floor apartment into their first home in Bountiful to raise their family closer to LaMar's work. In 1961 they relocated to their present home in Bountiful. Norma was a devoted wife, loving mother, gifted artist, and a lifelong teacher and friend to her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous positions faithfully. She is survived by her brother Melvin Brewer of St. George, Utah; her husband LaMar Axel; three sons, Randy LaMar (Lenna), Gary Norman (Pat), Danny B (Debbie); two daughters Vickie Ellen Slagowski (Randy), Connie Rae Goble (Edwin); 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3, at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive. Viewings will be held at Wasatch Lawn, Wednesday, August 2, from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
