Florence Marie Davis Valgardson 1919 ~ 2006 Florence Marie Davis Valgardson, 87, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2006. She was born in Salem, Utah, on January 1, 1919, to Ray and Mary Davis. She attended schools in Salem and Spanish Fork, and graduated from Brigham Young University. She served an LDS mission to the Northern States, and taught school in Salem and Payson. She married Paul Valgardson of Spanish Fork on March 9, 1946. Together, they started Valgardson House Movers and General Contractors in 1948. They had five sons and two daughters. She and Paul had 30 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Survivors include sons, Richard (Sheila), Ray, Bill (Gloria), David (Michelle) of Provo; Don (Debbie) of Lindon; and son-in-law Fred McEwan of Orem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her two daughters, Sara Lee and Mary, and one great-grandchild. Florence has been active in her church and community. She was active in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, serving as National Commander in 1978. She also has been active in the General Federation of Women's Clubs on the Local, State, Regional, and National level. She was a member of the Women's Council of Provo and served as president. She also received the Senator Reed Smoot Outstanding Citizen Award in 2000 for her service. Funeral services will be Monday, July 31, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Provo Peak 2nd Ward Chapel, 965 N. Locust Lane (1300 E.), Provo. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E.. Center Street, as well as Monday morning at the church 9:30- 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
