Ten Utah students have received full scholarships through the Daniels Fund, created by cable TV pioneer Bill Daniels.

They are: Ryan Barker, Darren Lee, Markuitta Thomas and Benny Wero Jr. of Snow Canyon High; Joshua Gardner and Leichia Hendricks of Uintah High; Gary Jean of Canyon View High; Channa Johnson and Hubert Yellowman of Monument Valley High; and Heather Todachinnie of San Juan High School.

"These are promising and motivated students determined to succeed in life, but lacking financial and other resources to continue their education," said Linda Childears, president and CEO of the Daniels Fund. "They are outstanding young people and the Daniels Fund is proud to partner with them as they fulfill their dreams of attending college."

The scholarships, available to Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming students, pick up expenses uncovered by other grants or aid, including tuition, room and board. The awards, given to 150 students this year, come with a laptop computer, health benefits and paid transportation to and from their university.
