I read with interest the article — and then your editorial — on human waste beside our highways. I have seen these disgusting bottles by the side of the road and would like to propose a solution.
Would it not be much more cost-effective to run DNA tests on this waste to help identify the culprits? Of course, I can already hear the screams of "Big Brother" invading our privacy, but let's require all trucking companies to submit a DNA entry or sample for each truck driver in their employ. The sample would be assigned a code instead of a name. The code would be associated with the company, not to an individual. When waste from along the side of the road matches a number in the database, the company is informed of the match and is fined.
I guarantee it would not take long for this repulsive and potentially deadly habit to be broken.
