COLORADO SPRINGS — Salt Lake's Jason Aspito belted a three-run homer to break open a close game and send the Bees to a 7-3 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Monday night.

Salt Lake led 2-1 with one out in fourth when Jeff Mathis doubled into the right field corner.

Sky Sox starter Denny Bautista then walked Casey Smith before Aspito hooked a 2-1 pitch inside the right field foul pole for his fifth home run of the season, his first on the road.

Jonathon Rouwenhorst (6-7) went six innings for the win, as he allowed just two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks. All three passed balls came in the second inning to load the bases, but he got Omar Quintanilla to ground into an inning ending double play.

Marcus Gwyn retired all six batters he faced to end the game, four by strikeout. Adam Pavkovich helped the Bees with two hits, including a two-run homer, while teammate Casey Smith added two hits.

Jeff Baker and Sean Barker had two hits each for the Sky Sox (54-68).

At 71-51, the Bees are 20 games above .500 for the first time this season.

With the win, the Bees win the series with Colorado Springs, 3-1.

Salt Lake returns home tonight to open a four-game homestand with the Fresno Grizzlies.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Franklin Covey Field.
