OREM — With the two-time defending Pioneer League champion Orem Owlz having clinched a spot in the 2006 playoffs, the dates, times and projected sites for next month's divisional and league championship series have been set.
The Owlz, which earned their postseason berth by winning the first-half title in the Pioneer League's South Division, have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
The best-of-three South Division playoffs begin Sept. 8, with the Owlz on the road to face either the second-half division winner or, if the Owlz claim the second-half crown as well, the division's wild-card team.
The series switches to Orem and the UVSC baseball stadium for the second game at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. A third game — if necessary — will be played in Orem at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10.
The Pioneer League championship series — also a best-of-three format — begins on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the home field of the champion advancing from the North Division playoffs. The second game is set to be hosted by the South Division champion on Sept. 14, with a third-game — again, if necessary — played the following day at the same South Division site.
Local game times for the championship series, should the Owlz host, will follow the same regular-season patter of a 7 p.m. start.
In addition to selling single-game tickets, the Owlz are offering the Pespi Playoff Pack for $10, allowing the holder the same reserved seat to every home playoff contest, plus a free 20-ounce bottle of a Pepsi product.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.oremowlz.com, at the UVSC stadium ticket office or at an SmithTix location.
