Gordon Lee Gill 1926 ~ 2006 Gordon Lee Gill passed away Monday, August 21, 2006, after repeatedly beating the odds in a 26-year fight against cancer. Gordon was born August 10, 1926, in Preston, Idaho, to George P and Wanda Johnson Gill. He attended Salt Lake City schools and was a member of the Rotary Boys' Club. He and his older brothers Wayne and Dewey sang together at many civic and church functions and were broadcasted on the first television to be demonstrated in Salt Lake City. After graduating from West High School in 1943, he served in the US Army, including time in Italy during World War II. He served in the LDS Central States Mission from 1954 to 1956 under President Alvin R. Dyer. He was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Janet Oberg in 1957. They were later separated. Gordy was a carpenter and built or remodeled many stores, churches and homes along the Wasatch front and throughout the intermountain west. For most of the past 20 years, he was a maintenance technician at Fairchild Semiconductor. He was active in his church and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, making candy, traveling, playing on his computer, four-wheeling and being with family and friends. He is survived by his children Lauralee (Pete) Horrocks, Jennifer Gill, Veronica (Scott) McNabb, Carolyn (Leonard) Adair, Natalie (Bruce) Loveland, Michael (Angie) Gill; 25 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the Utah Veterans' Memorial Park at 17111 South Camp Williams Road. Friends are invited to the service and a celebration of Gordon's life at his home in Bountiful afterwards. Funeral directors Broomhead Funeral Home.
