Obituary: Louis L. Smith

Louis L. Smith 1912 ~ 2006 Louis L. Smith, age 94, passed away peacefully August 22, 2006 in Palm Desert, California to join his beloved sweetheart Kathryn and daughter Carol. Louis was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 14, 1912 to Enoch and Ellen Smith. He married Kathryn Spencer on January 14, 1933. Louis was a general contractor in Salt Lake City. He and his brothers formed Enoch Smith Sons Company where he worked until retirement. Louis and Kathryn then made their new home in the Palms Springs, California area and lived there for almost 40 years. During this time he served on the Rancho Mirage City Council, the Thunderbird Country Club Board of Directors and volunteered more than 11,000 hours at the Eisenhower Hospital. He was well respected and loved by all he served. He performed many acts of kindness to his family, friends and church. Louis became an accomplished artist and through his paintings brought beauty and happiness to family and friends. He is survived by his sons, L. Spencer Smith (Deonne), Paul D. Smith (Cheryl), 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 12 Noon at the Larkin Mortuary located at 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy, Utah. A Viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
