In John Hughes' column (Aug. 2) he suggests we should continue to strive for a peaceful, democratic Lebanon, a Palestinian state and an Israel all presumably at peace with one another.
What is missing from Hughes' analysis is how do mortal men erase the anger and hatred in the hearts of millions of Muslims for Israel, America and President Bush? It is imbedded in them from their youth. Hatred consumes many to the point they will sacrifice their children as bombers and their cities to satisfy their cravings. What bombings, armies, rockets or governmental changes can reverse the hatred in the hearts of the men, women and children so infected for generations?
