FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — After two losses to NCAA Division I teams, Northern Arizona will be looking for its first victory of the season Saturday against Division II newcomer Dixie State.
Dixie of St. George, Utah, is in its first year as a four-year institution. It had been a highly successful football program as a junior college.
After losses at Arizona State and Utah, Northern Arizona welcomes the opportunity to play at home against a less-imposing foe.
"We've played in two tough environments against two very good teams, and we've played well in phases," NAU coach Jerome Souers said. "What we need to do is win a game. We need to be rewarded for the way we're playing and we haven't been yet."
The Lumberjacks have accumulated 517 yards in their new no-huddle offense and could have a big day Saturday.
The visiting Rebels (0-3) have been outscored 120-28 this season.
"We should flat out win," Lumberjacks quarterback Jason Murrietta said.
