High temperatures were traded for low ones as short sleeves turned long Friday.
National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Seaman said a strong cold front swept over the state midafternoon Friday, plunging temperatures from the day's high of 73 to the low 40s.
Pingpong-size hail fell in Price and wind gusts up to 50 mph were recorded statewide along I-15.
The Bountiful bench accumulated nearly 2 inches of rain during the 36-hour storm system, while parts of central Utah saw the same. Salt Lake and surrounding cities got nearly an inch of rain that turned to hail at times, Seaman said.
Forecasters issued a snow advisory for high elevations of the Wasatch and Uinta mountains. Three to 5 inches are expected at elevations of 7,500 feet or higher, Seaman said.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Randall Akers said several crashes occurred on northern Utah roads during the storm, some of them causing minor injuries.
Conditions should clear up today with a high of only 59 degrees in Salt Lake City. Warmer temperatures are to return by mid-week.
