MURRAY — The Park City girls cross country team made it two for two in prep cross country showdowns with a victory Friday afternoon at the soggy Murray Invitational in Murray City Park.
Coming off last Saturday's win in the BYU Autumn Classic, the Miners finished first again with 67 points to beat out Mountain Crest and Davis, who tied for second at 94.
In the boys' competition, Davis took team honors with a score of 86, outdistancing Mountain Crest (111) and Alta (136).
Bingham senior Kim Quinn also stayed unbeaten in invites, easily taking individual honors with a time of 18:39.2. Natalie Haws of Davis was second at 18:45.6, and Orem's Krystal Harper was third at 18:50.7. The always-popular Murray meet was greeted by inclement weather — lots of rain and slick conditions as the runners traversed the park.
"There were a couple of places where it was sloppy, but this is a good place to race," Quinn said.
She won in Provo last week and has emerged as one of the state's best runners. But Park City used its depth to claim the team title, with all five of its scoring runners in the top 20. Junior Elli Reed led the Miners with an 11th-place overall finish at 19:48.9. Elizabeth Guiney was 13th, Rosie Brennan 16th and Leah Margolis 18th. And the fifth Park City scoring runner, Gillian Gorelick, was 24th overall and 20th among scorers. Guiney, Margolis and Gorelick are all freshmen.
Haws and sophomore Candace Eddy paced Davis, while Mountain Crest was led by sophomore Macinze O'very.
Judge Memorial junior Luke Puskedra won the boys' individual title in a time of 15:56.4, holding off Davis senior Jared Ward (16:12.1) and Skyline junior Stephen Clark (16:19.0). Only the Darts fielded a full team among those three schools.
"This is a good test early in the season, especially in these kind of conditions," said Davis coach Roger Buhrley. Davis junior Spencer Anderson was ninth and teammate Seth Gutzwiller, a sophomore, was 11th.
Justin Hedin of Mountain Crest placed fourth, while Prescott McCarthy of Park City rounded out the top five.
With region meets midweek, the next invite is the uniquely scored Wahsatch Rendezvous at the Cottonwood Complex next Saturday. Races begin at 8:30 a.m. for the top seven varsity runners in each participating school.
