WASATCH THEATRE COMPANY next weekend for two of its upcoming productions: "Cabaret," directed by Scott Allen Curry, and "A Thousand Clowns," directed by George Plautz.
The "Cabaret" auditions are Sept. 22, 6 p.m. in Studio A of the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South. These are by appointment only (446-5657). Come prepared with both a ballad an an uptempo song and be prepared to dance. All roles are open for men and women, 18 and older, including several slots as Kit Kat Klub dancers. Callbacks will be Sept. 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Play dates are Jan. 18-27.
The "Thousand Clowns" auditions are 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 22 in Studio B of the Rose Wagner Center and 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Sept. 23, at the Columbus Center, 2530 S. 500 East (Room 106).
There are roles for three men in their 30s to 40s and a man and woman in their late 20s to 30s. The role of one young boy, Nick, has already been cast. There will be cold readings from the script. Play dates are Nov. 3-18 at the Columbus Center.
MIDVALE COPPERVIEW THEATRE ARTS YOUTH PROGRAM on Sept. 22, 7-9 p.m., and Sept. 23, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Copperview Community Center, 8446 S. Harrison St., Midvale, for the fall production of "Oleander Manor: Harvest Ball."
Come prepared with a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of an upbeat song. A pianist and CD player will be provided. There may also be cold readings from the script and auditioners will learn a short dance combination. Play dates are Nov. 9-11 (Wendy Dahl-Smedshammer, 561-0075).
HALE CENTRE THEATRE, 3333 S. Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City, on Sept. 23,
for its annual production of "A Christmas Carol," directed by John J. Sweeney. Auditions are by appointment only (984-9000, beginning Monday). There will be two sessions — 9-11 a.m. for ages 5-17, and noon-2 p.m. for adults, 18 and over.
Except for Scrooge, all roles are open. Needed are adult men and women, with many roles for children and teens. Except for those auditioning for Tiny Tim, all must have prior stage experience.
Come prepared with one verse of a Christmas song. An accompanist will be provided. There will also be readings of selected lines from the show in an authentic British or Cockney accent. Scene readings will be at callbacks (by invitation only).

TERRACE PLAZA PLAYHOUSE, 99 E. 4700 South, Ogden, on Sept. 23, 9-11 a.m., for "Scrooge, A Christmas Carol," directed by Jacci Florence.
The title role has been precast. All other roles are open. Families are welcome to audition together. Come prepared to sing 16 bars of an upbeat Broadway-style song. No accompanist will be provided. Bring your own music and accompanist or a CD and player.

WESTMINSTER PLAYERS, at Westminster College's Dumke Student Theatre, located in the Jewett Center for the Performing Arts, 1250 E. 1700 South, on Sept. 25-26, 7:30 p.m., for "The Shape of Things," being directed by Brian Pilling and scheduled to play Nov. 15-19.
