CROSS COUNTRY: The BYU men's cross country team had a successful outing at the Sacramento State Invitational on Saturday.
Chandler Goodwin led his team to a perfect score of 15 points with a time of 24:38 in the 8K. BYU placed 12 runners in the top 15, as well as claiming the top six spots.
Coach Ed Eyestone was very proud of the effort put forth by his runners in the absence of senior Josh Rohatinsky, who did not participate in the meet.
"Chandler had a great win. That was really nice," said Eyestone. "We saw Dan Hinckley's consistency. Last week was not a fluke. He will challenge for an All-American this year."
SOCCER: It took extra time before either team got on the board Saturday, but a left-footed shot from Katie Larkin in the sixth minute of overtime secured a 1-0 victory as BYU (6-1-0) defeated Utah State (2-5-0) in the face of a treacherous hail storm.
"I didn't feel like we got off to the start that we wanted, but we regrouped a little bit at the half and brought more energy to the game," said coach Jennifer Rockwood. "The weather made for some difficult conditions, but we fought through it and came out with a win."
Utah State
CROSS COUNTRY: Vance Twitchell won the men's race to lead Utah State to a second-place overall finish at the Montana State Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. The women's team finished in third-place overall with Jennifer Twitchell leading for the Aggies.
