PROVO — Criminal charges have been filed in 4th District Court against the woman who attempted to use her murdered sister-in-law's checks.
Nicki Lynn Warner, 37, was charged Thursday in 4th District Court with five third-degree felony forgery counts and a class A misdemeanor of assault by prisoner.
Warner was arrested Sept. 13 for using a check with the name Sharee Hatch, the woman who was killed four years ago by Warner's brother, Robert Steven Hatch.
Hatch is serving a prison term for the 2002 murder.
Orem police say Warner tried to use the check at a Harward Farms roadside produce stand.
The arrest in Orem spurred investigations in other cities.
Warner remains in the Utah County Jail on $20,000 cash or bond bail and will appear in 4th District Court for a hearing on Monday.
