Educator Barbara Kreek and Justin, her geologist husband, will present a class on sand they have collected from the Sahara and Gobi deserts, the beaches of Hawaii, Japan and India and the river banks of Germany and China on Saturday, Oct. 7, 1-2 p.m. at the Magna Library, 8339 W. 3500 South, Magna,

The class limit is 25 people, ages 8-12.

Children will find out how sands differ in color, in how they feel and what they are made of. Children will use magnifiers to unlock the mysteries of sand and make a sand mini-collection to take home.
