Navajo Mountain to get a wireless network

Smith Bagley Inc. will receive $205,416 as one of 19 grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for community broadband connections.

Bagley, doing business as CellularOne Navajo Mountain, will use the funds to build a wireless network for Navajo Mountain, San Juan County, whose nearest hospital is more than 100 miles away. The grant is expected to fund 10 computers to offer online public safety notices, educational opportunities and telemedicine services to the Navajo Mountain community.

The $10.3 million in grants was awarded to organizations in 13 states and American Samoa.
