Dr. Kent Collins Day
1929 ~ 2007
LAYTON- Dr. Kent Collins Day died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at his home in west Layton following a lingering illness.
Kent was born on Nov. 13, 1929 in Ogden to Joseph Y. Day and Dorothy K. Collins, and was reared on the family farm in West Layton. He graduated from Davis High School, the University of Utah, and received a Ph.D from Harvard
University. He spent many years in archeological studies in Latin
America, especially Peru and
Guatemala, until his return to the family farm in 1980. He also served as curator of the Layton Museum for a number of years.
Kent had a lifelong interest in
music, art and history, and
assembled collections of paintings, historical buildings and furniture. He enjoyed family and community
history, and wrote extensively on these subjects.
He was a kind, gentle, reserved and generous man, and will be missed by all who knew him.
