Thomas Melvin Rynearson, Jr.

Tom Rynearson, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2007 from complications of Alzheimer's at the age of 73.

Born in Huntington Park, CA to Thomas and Merle Rynearson, oldest of three sons. They moved back to Salt Lake City in 1939.

Married Darlene Robison of Bennion, UT in 1954. Later sealed to one another and four children in the Manti Temple in 1969. He served several callings, which included Stake and Ward Financial Clerk, and served two LDS Church missions with his wife, Darlene.

Known for his zest for life, sense of humor, commitment and service to others, and love for his family.

His accomplishments in life include B.S.A. Eagle Scout, Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor. Financial Advisor and Tax Consultant as TMR Bookkeeping.

Service in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1953. He was Air Police with assignments including security of an A-bomb while in England, ultimately leading to a career in law enforcement. He spent three years with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, before beginning a 27 year career with the Utah Highway Patrol making advancements to the rank of Captain. Instrumental in the organization of the UHP Retirees Assoc.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene, his four children, Doug, Greg (Marci), Cheryl, Shawna (Dave) Dyson, 11 Grandchildren, five great-grandchildren with two more great-grandchildren on the way, and brothers, Fred and Gary.

We'd like to recognize all those who tended to his care at Holladay Health Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. Viewings will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to services at Redwood Memorial Estates. Interment Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
