Obituary: LuDean Checketts McQuarrie

LuDean Checketts McQuarrie

11/18/25 ~ 10/12/07

Our Cherished Mother and loving wife returned to her Father in Heaven on October 12, 2007. Mom is now reunited with her parents, eight brothers and sister who preceded her. LuDean was born November 18, 1925 to Ruby Leona Harris and Parley Samuel Checketts. The youngest of ten children, she lived a full and satisfying life. During her younger years she was a fashion model for ZCMI. She later operated a fork lift at the Ogden Supply depot during World War II, while most of her brothers were risking their lives in defense of our country. LuDean married Wallace Scott McQuarrie on March 23, 1956 in the Logan Temple. As she wrote in her journal over 50 years ago, "I've finally met the man of my dreams, the one I've been awaiting for 30 years" LuDean and Wally adopted their two treasured children, Loni in 1961 and Scott in 1963. LuDean possessed an unwavering belief in the LDS church and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our beautiful wife and mother is survived by her husband, Wallace Scott McQuarrie, daughter Loni, son Scott, his wife Stacey, and her six grandchildren, Jason, Tyson, Joshua, Chase, Keaton and Taylor, who were the light of her life.

Mom, while we grieve your passing, we also rejoice in the glorious reunion you have been longing for. Our "angel" is whole once again and reunited with her parents, nine siblings and many dear friends. What more could we ask for.

LuDean's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the South Davis Community Hospital for their wonderful and compassionate care of our Mom during her last few weeks.
