Willard (Bill) Carlos McBride

1918 ~ 2007

Willard (Bill) Carlos McBride, passed away October 11, 2007, Sandy, Utah. Born January 22, 1918 in Pima, Arizona to Don Carlos and Emma Jane Hubbard McBride. Married Georgia Rhea Sampson September 11, 1944 in Oakland, California. She later preceded him in death.

Bill served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of his life. Positions in which he faithfully served: bishopric counselor, high councilor, stake auditor, stake historian and home teacher.

He volunteered in the Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He put himself through law school, then worked for the Department of Justice, where he distinguished himself in setting precedents that were employed for many years to come. He retired in 1983 at the rank of GS-16, the highest rank in government service.

He most importantly loved and enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Jane McBride Choate and Carla McBride Berger; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Florence Wanlass, Vearl McBride (Betty), and Elaine Pratt (Hurley). Also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Fannie McBride, Mildred McBride, Reo McBride, Dwayne McBride and Donald McBride.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m. at the Salt Lake LDS Historic 10th Ward, 420 South 800 East in Salt Lake City, where friends and family may call from 9:30 a.m to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services.
