Hill AFB night missions resumed last week

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Those who've lived around Hill Air Force Base long enough know pilots sometimes take part in training missions after the sun goes down.

Those night missions resumed last Monday and will continue into the winter months, Hill officials announced.

Residents of areas around the base will hear F-16s during night hours as pilots continue to "sharpen their night-time combat flying skills," Hill officials said in a statement.

During night missions, pilots train with "advanced targeting pods" and night-vision goggles. The night missions take place Monday through Thursday, starting in the early evening and lasting until shortly after midnight.
