Police investigating suspicious death at Wendover casino

Police in West Wendover, Nev., are investigating an Orem man's suspicious death at a casino on the Utah-Nevada border.

The West Wendover Police Department said officers responded Sunday to the Stateline-Wendover Nugget Casino on a medical problem, where they found the body of Carlos Garcia, 22.

"Further investigation revealed that Garcia had been involved in an altercation with two individuals who had left the scene prior to the officers arriving, and died during the altercation," the West Wendover Police Department said in a statement sent to the Deseret Morning News on Monday.

Police said a cause of death for Garcia has not been determined. His body was sent to the Washoe County crime lab in Reno, Nev., for an autopsy.

"The investigation is continuing," police said in their statement.

The police department refused to say if any arrests had been made in connection with the death.

West Wendover Police Chief Ronald Supp was out of the office Monday and did not immediately return a phone call seeking additional comment.
