High school athletes of the week

JAMIE RIGBY, Bountiful, football: This senior running back had himself a career game Friday night.

In a critical region game against Roy, Rigby racked up 250 yards rushing and four touchdowns in the 31-14 win over the Royals.

"He's got that extra gear," said Bountiful coach Larry Wall. "He just shifts and then he goes."

Rigby's four-TD performance more than doubled his scoring output, which was three entering Friday's game. With one game remaining in the regular season, Rigby has now carried the ball 181 times for 1,076 yards.

ERIN LENCE, Rowland Hall-St. Mark's, volleyball: This senior setter is a team leader both statistically and emotionally.

In one region match, she served 33 points and earned 15 aces. She also earned 10 kills, 14 assists and 16 digs.

"Erin is an excellent all-around player with solid volleyball skills and a steady temperament," said head coach Kendra Tomsic. "She has a team-first attitude and an amazing work ethic."

The honor student most recently led the Winged Lions to a win in the championship match of the Copper Division of the Sevier Valley Invitational last weekend.
