Obituary: Donna Davies Gardner

Donna Davies Gardner

1922 ~ 2007

Our beautiful mother, grand-mother, aunt, sister and friend,Donna Cleone Davies Gardner, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007, while on a cruise. Donna had just finished dancing with her loving companion, Bob, when she sat down and peacefully passed away.

Donna was born on November 15, 1922 to Stanley Glen and Violet Leone Davies at home in Sugarhouse, Utah. She was the eldest child raised in Bingham, Utah with her sister and dearest friend, Joy Dean and her brother Glen. She had two baby sisters that died in infancy.

Donna married Sherman Donald Gardner on July 10, 1943 in the

Logan Temple. After 45 years of marriage, Sherm passed away. Donna and Sherm moved 27 times in their married life and made lifelong friends wherever they went.

Donna was a member of the Petroleum & Mining wives and Waimes. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was involved in many church callings.

Donna was always active. She was an avid bridge player and a great entertainer. Donna had an ability to make you feel at ease. She had a great zest for life, loved socializing and being with her family and friends. One of Donna's favorite things to do was to travel with Bob, her two sons and daughters-in-law. She spent many happy days cruising, spending long weekends at the cabin, and going on family vacations with her children and grandchildren.

Donna was an inspiration to us all. She was a great listener and a wonderful confidant. She had a great ability to make people feel special. Donna was caring, classy, thoughtful and full of life until the very end.

Donna is survived by her loving companion, Bob Pullan, her adored sons Dr. S. Donald Gardner and his wife, Cyndi, Michael Davies

Gardner and his wife, Illona; grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Gardner, Mark Donald Gardner, Alison Dedman (Dan), Charles David

Gardner, Todd Harmon Gardner (Sarah), Zachary Alley (Rachel), Scott David Gardner, and Lisa Kathleen Gardner; great-grand-children, Kelleck, McKay, Connor and Eliza, sister Joy Dean Thurmond (Jack), brother Glen Ensign Davies (Maurine), Arnold Gardner (Joan), and MaryLou Gardner; and numerous nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly.

A viewing will be held on Thurs. October 18, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 So. State Street. Donna's funeral will be held on Friday, October 19, 2007, at the Holladay Stake Center, 4568 Holladay Blvd, at 12 noon. Donna's family will also greet friends and loved ones one hour

prior to the service. Her burial will be at Mtn. View Memorial Estates Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com
