Local bands do well at competition

PROVO — At the Rocky Mountain Invitational at Brigham Young University Oct. 9, local bands did well.

The 17-member Lehi High School Marching Band took first in the Class A Division, competing against four other small bands. Lehi also took the outstanding musicality award.

Springville took third place in the Class A Division and the outstanding percussion award.

In the Open Class Division, American Fork High School took first place and the awards for outstanding percussion and outstanding visual performance.

Timpview High School took second and the award for outstanding musicality.

In the Class AA Division, Orem High School took third place and the award for outstanding color guard.

In the Class AAA Division, Payson took third place. Riverton High School swept the awards category and took first place.
