PLEASANT GROVE — The Pleasant Grove Players will present performances of the comedy-drama "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling.
The cast of "Steel Magnolias" includes Hailey Nebeker as Shelby, Kathryn Laycock Little as M'Lynn, Luone Ingram as Truvy, Charlie Little as Annelle, Jan Williams as Ouiser, and Deb Escalante as Clairee.
"Steel Magnolias" examines the bonds of friendship among a group of six women in northwest Louisiana. The play is set in Truvy's beauty salon. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I'm not crazy, I've just been in a bad mood for 40 years"); eccentric millionaire Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a "good ole boy."
"The PG Players are happy to be presenting 'Steel Magnolias' under the excellent direction of Howard Little and Kathryn Laycock Little," said producer Luone Ingram. "We have a wonderful, talented cast of women who have blossomed into a warm and amusing ensemble. Come and enjoy the exchange of recipes, gossip, humor and close friendships among these 'Steel Magnolias."'
Howard and Kathryn Little are directing this production. Verlena Jackman is the production assistant.
