Property tax hike hurts many

What's wrong with this picture? Wednesday's headline says "A $400M Utah surplus?" while outlying Weber residents are losing their homes because they cannot afford the outrageous property tax increase. Property taxes have risen in other parts of our state that have caused real concern. In some areas of Texas, the law does not allow property taxes to rise above a small percentage (10 percent) a year. In Colorado, seniors' property taxes are frozen except for high-income people.

Why a surplus when so many are hurting? Where is the justice?
