A recently released report by ForSaleByOwner.com lists Salt Lake City and the Provo/Orem areas among its highest ranking cities.
The report shows Charlotte, N.C., as the fastest-growing market for independent homesellers with year to year growth of 417 percent from June 2006 to June 2007. Orlando is second at 306 percent, followed by Cincinnati (174 percent), Provo/Orem (173 percent), and Salt Lake City (111 percent).
The company's data also show Salt Lake metro area ranks eighth nationally for the number of independent homesellers, which accounted for just under 2 percent of sales in the first half of 2007.
New York is No. 1 on the list by a wide margin at 12.7 percent, followed by Chicago (5.1 percent), Washington, D.C. (3.2 percent), Miami (2.6 percent) and Los Angeles (2.3 percent). Rounding out the top 10 are Norfolk, Va. (2.1 percent), Atlanta (2.0 percent), Salt Lake City (1.8 percent), Dallas (1.7 percent) and Tampa, Fla. (1.6 percent).
The data are based on listings posted on the ForSaleByOwner.com Web site from Jan. 1, 2007, through June 30, 2007.
