Kevin Keane (Readers' Forum, Oct. 17) has a responsibility to be the public relations guy who maintains markets in drugged "energy" drinks. The idea that caffeine is safe — whether or not 140 countries have allowed its use — is preposterous. Caffeine, according to WebMD, commonly causes stomach and intestine irritation, sleeping disorders, hyper-excitability, dizziness, involuntary quivering, rapid heartbeat and other effects. Pure water is the best energy drink available. Meanwhile, let these doped drink dealers advertise their "safe" milligrams on their products. The public has the right to know.
