A recently released report by ForSaleByOwner.com lists Salt Lake City and the Provo/Orem areas among its highest ranking cities.
The report shows Charlotte, N.C., as the fastest-growing market for independent home sellers with year to year growth of 417 percent from June 2006 to June 2007. Orlando is second at 306 percent, followed by Cincinnati (174 percent), Provo/Orem (173 percent), and Salt Lake City (111 percent).
The company's data also shows the Salt Lake metro area ranks 8th nationally for the number of independent home sellers, which accounted for just under 2 percent of sales in the first half of 2007.
New York is number one on the list by a wide margin at 12.7 percent, followed by Chicago (5.1 percent), Washington, D.C. (3.2 percent), Miami (2.6 percent) and Los Angeles (2.3 percent). Rounding out the top 10 are Norfolk, Va., (2.1 percent), Atlanta (2.0 percent), Salt Lake City (1.8 percent), Dallas (1.7 percent) and Tampa, Fla., (1.6 percent).
