Couple is arrested in Orem burglary spree

OREM — The family that steals together goes to jail together.

A 30-year-old Orem man and his 28-year-old wife were arrested early Saturday morning after they packed up their 4-year-old daughter to join them in an alleged burglary spree throughout Orem.

The couple looked in open garages in the areas of 1400 South and 200 West, and Alta Vista Drive, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards

The couple also approached a home on Palisade Drive in Orem where the garage door was up. A man who lives in the home later told police he had just opened it and then went back inside for a moment, Edwards said.

When the victim came back to the garage, he saw the woman sprint out and leap into a sedan driven by her husband.

The victim followed the car to Provo in his car while he called police, Edwards said.

The couple then made a U-turn and drove back to Orem, making an obscene gesture to the victim as they passed, Edward said.

Police finally caught up with the couple at 500 E. Center in Orem and found they had an iPod, which had been reported stolen in Provo.

The couple was arrested for investigation of burglary and taken to the Utah County Jail. Their daughter was put in the care of a grandmother, Edwards said.
