1913 ~ 2007

LaVerl Lunceford Ivers of Orem passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 at the young age of 94 years. LaVerl was born on Sept. 17, 1913 at her grandmother's home in Marion, ID to Joseph Alvin and Olive Martin Lunceford.

As a child she was raised on the family's fruit farm in Orem, UT. She learned the value of hard work at a young age and this carried through in all she did throughout her life. LaVerl graduated from Lincoln High in Orem, UT. She also attended BYU for a short time. She married Merven P. Ivers June 6, 1939 in SLC, UT. LaVerl and Merve made their home in Provo, where their two daughters were born.

Even after Merve passed away in 1994, LaVerl continued to take care of her very large yard, with the help of a few faithful neighbors, up until the week of her passing.

LaVerl is survived by a sister, June Piz of Kemmerer, WY, two daughters, Betty Fonnesbeck of SLC, UT, Christy Rowland (Paul) of Farmington, five grandchildren; Lisa Neilson (Joe), Ted Fonnesbeck, R. Cody Rowland (Nicole), W. Casey Rowland and Kensley Rowland, and one great-grandson; Hunter L. Neilson.
