Obituary: Olive George Prigmore

Olive George Prigmore

1921 ~ 2007

Olive passed peacefully away on 19 Oct. at her home in Magna. With her were her beloved husband of 68 years and members of her family. After suffering a fall while gardening last spring her health slowly declined until she no longer had the strength to continue in this life. In addition to the care and support of her family, she was attended by members of the Hartwood Hospice nursing staff, especially Glenna, who made the last months of her life comfortable and cheerful.Olive was born in Montpelier, Idaho and moved to Salt Lake City with her parents, Udell and Mary George while still a young girl. During the Depression her family moved to Bingham Canyon where she met the love of her life, Martin E. Prigmore, while attending Bingham High School. They waited to wed until the day Olive graduated from Jordan High in 1939 because she had promised her parents she would complete her high school education before marriage.

Her great passions were her family and gardening. She was untiring in her service to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grand children. She spent many joyful hours with her plants and flowers.

She also loved to beautify the Prigmore home in countless ways and decorated for each holiday especially Christmas which she and her husband made particularly memorable year after year.

Olive is survived by her husband, Martin; sons, James and Bill (LeAna); sisters, Elaine, Mary, Marian, Genevieve, Eva and brother, Richard; grandchildren, Sheila, Susan (Tyler) and Marianne (Tim), and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Madison, Katie, Benjamin, Kendall, Talmage, Kaden, Adalee and Conner.

A viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road, Monday, October 22nd, 7-8:30 p.m. Later she will be interred after a private service for family and close friends. For details call 531-6367.
