Southern Utah

BASKETBALL: Southern Utah's men's and women's basketball teams will hold respective Red/White Varsity Previews on Saturday night in the Centrum Arena. The women's scrimmage will tip off at 6 p.m. with the men's scrimmage scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

SUU's women will play one 20-minute half while the men will play a full game. An autograph session with both teams will follow the games.

"We're excited to get the guys out there and evaluate where we are," men's coach Roger Reid said. "Sometimes when you say 'scrimmage,' you give the impression that it's something other than a game, but this is a game to us. We'll have two teams out there with officials and a shot clock, and we'll see what we can learn about our team.

"I think this is both a great opportunity for our fans to come out and see us, and a great opportunity for us to evaluate our team in a game setting."

Said women's coach Steve Hodson: "This is a great opportunity for us to acquaint ourselves with the community. They'll get a good look at how we play basketball."

The SUU men's team plays its exhibition opener Oct. 31 against Mesa State at 7 p.m. while the women host Dixie State on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.

Utah State

VOLLEYBALL: Utah State will play its second straight in-state match, hosting Utah Valley tonight at 7 in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Utah State (12-10) has won three straight matches after recording a five-game win at Weber State on Tuesday night.
